The Albanian Alps (Bjeshkët e Nemuna, the 'Accursed Mountains') are Europe's last true wilderness — glacial valleys, stone towers and shepherd villages linked by the legendary Theth–Valbona hike and the Lake Koman ferry.
June to mid-October. The Theth–Valbona pass is only safe when snow-free (usually mid-June to early October).

Frequently asked questions
Most travellers do the loop: Shkodër → Koman ferry → Valbona → hike to Theth → minivan back to Shkodër. It takes 3–4 days.
It's a moderate 15 km with ~800 m ascent, doable in 6–8 hours by anyone with reasonable fitness in good weather.
Guesthouses and the pass open mid-June and close in early October when snow returns.
