Llogara, Qafë Thana, the Arbër road and the northern valleys (Theth, Valbona) see repeated snow. Closures and convoy restrictions are announced the same morning.
Still winter on the roads, but carnival celebrations and the first almond blossom bring some local events.
ARRSH confirmed works on the roads linking to the Llogara tunnel: rehabilitating about 1 km from the tunnel exit on the Palasë side to the new Palasë–Dhërmi junction, plus a new ~600 m section. The tunnel saw short temporary closures for blasting (about 20 minutes, e.g. 14 February); by 19 May the project was about 80% complete and asphalt layers had started. Several southern municipalities hold carnival parades in late winter. Dates move with the calendar and are published locally only weeks ahead.

1 May is a public holiday with a big domestic-travel weekend. Cultural festivals restart in Tirana, Berat and Gjirokastër through the month.

ARRSH confirmed Phase III of the Tirana–Durrës Superstrada expansion through summer 2026: widening to 3 lanes plus an emergency lane, the Laknas grade-separated junction and a new 94 m metal overpass at Kashar (about 26% complete in mid-August). Repeated night closures (roughly 23:00–05:00) were announced for beam installation, including 6–7 and 14–15 August, with traffic diverted via the Kashar–Thumanë overpass and secondary roads. Morina, Hani i Hotit and Kakavijë crossings see long waits in August as the diaspora travels. Border queues are longest at weekends.
Heatwaves bring official warnings and occasional closures of park trails during wildfire risk. Check weather warnings before hiking.
Warm sea, thinner crowds, and the start of the wind-down: some seasonal services stop mid-month.
ARRSH closed the Tirana–Durrës highway in both directions on the nights of 1, 2 and 3 September 2026, 23:00–05:00, to install metal beams on the new Kashar overpass. Traffic was diverted via the Rinas ramp and secondary roads; heavy vehicles diverted from the Casa Italia junction, and vehicles for Rinas, Shkodër and Kosovo used the Kashar–Thumanë overpass. Further night closures followed on 21–22 September — check ARRSH before late-night airport transfers.
Beach clubs, boat operators and some coastal hotels reduce hours or close from mid-September even while the weather stays warm.
Grape and chestnut harvest events take place around Berat, Korçë and Përmet in early autumn, announced by municipalities close to the date.
