Festivals, events and public holidays
- 2027 · 1–2 Jan
New Year's holidays
Official public holiday in Albania: banks, public offices and many state museums close; shops and restaurants in tourist areas usually stay open. If it falls on a weekend the government may move the day off — check the official announcement.
What usually happens in January
- New Year holidays close offices, banks and some museums. The first days of January are public holidays. Banks, public offices and several state museums close or run short hours, and family-run restaurants may shut for a few days.
- Snow and ice on high passes. Llogara, Qafë Thana, the Arbër road and the northern valleys (Theth, Valbona) see repeated snow. Closures and convoy restrictions are announced the same morning.
