When the coast is at its hottest, August sends many travellers north. Shkodër is a warm base city, and the Accursed Mountains around Theth offer cooler air, rivers and some of Albania's best hiking.
Weather
Shkodër is hot in August; Theth is noticeably cooler, especially at night. Afternoon thunderstorms can form in the mountains, so start hikes early.
Hiking
