Shkodër & Theth in June: Start of Alps Hiking Season

June is when the Albanian Alps become properly accessible. Snow usually retreats from the main passes, guesthouses in Theth are open, and the valleys are at their greenest. Shkodër, the gateway city, is warm and lively.

Is June a good time for Theth?

Yes. Early June can still have snow on the highest pass of the Theth–Valbona hike, so check with your guesthouse before setting out. By mid-to-late June conditions are usually good. For the national overview, see Albania in June.
